Meet the Pug Rescue of Korea Board of Directors.

Each member has a full-time job (or school) and does this for the love of pugs, entirely on their own time, with no monetary compensation.

Rescuer/Top Dog

As the original founder of Pug Rescue of Korea, Kim is our rescue extraordinaire in charge of all operations in the South Korea area. Ms. Hye Sook is a pug mom to Luce and Harley along with caretaker to Lil Kim (her sidekick and niece). Kim has a Master's Degree in International Politics and a BA in English Language and Literature. As a a full-time export project manager, Kim works directly for the Republic of South Korea. When she's not busy rescuing pugs, she enjoys surfing the web and watching Korean dramas.

Lil Kim is the niece of our rescuer Hye Sook Kim. As videographer and editor, she takes care of the foster pugs while Ms. Hye Sook is working and traveling South Korea to rescue pugs in need. Lil Kim has lived with Kim and her pugs since she was 13 years old and is currently a middle school student in Daegu city. In her free time, she loves listening to the music of Billie Eilish, along with being a HUGE fan of BTS.

CEO/Executive Director

One of the founding Board Members, Renee has been involved with PRK since 2009. Having fostered many pugs over the years, she is a grateful pug mom to Suki and Biscuit, both rescued via Pug Rescue of Korea. Renee received her BA in Fine Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. Ms. Pulve oversees operations and personally designs all of our apparel and graphics. In addition to volunteering for PRK, Renee also runs a full time graphic design business and loves to travel for yoga retreats.

Wife, mother of twins, and fur mom to Piggy (2007 - 2020) and Gumbo (PRK), Melody received her BA in Communications from UCSD with Graduate studies in Communications from CSU Fullerton. She comes from a PR background and maintains our social media, newsletters and customer relations along with late night chat meetings with Kim. While working full-time for a California communications company, Mrs. Chalaban's side hustle includes running marathons, dreaming of living in Hawaii, and finding PRK a private jet for pug transportation.

Vice President

Jinny is a wife, mother of two, and fur mom to Betty (Pug Nation), Nori (PRK), and Fiona (PRK). When she's not busy fostering, picking up pugs at LAX or keeping an eye on our IG account, Mrs. Chi also volunteers for Pug Nation in her free time. Jinny earns major bonus points for speaking both English AND Korean, which her pugs from Korea say they appreciate!

VP of Accounting and Finance

Karen is a former investment professional with a BA in Business Economics from UCLA and an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business. When she is not busy watching the stock market and reading financial journals, she enjoys gardening in her backyard, stretching her amateur culinary muscles in the kitchen, traveling and eating her way around the world, and working off the calories with some serious Zumba moves. In addition to PRK, Karen volunteers with the Pasadena Senior Center, the Pasadena Museum of History, and Planned Parenthood.

We are a group of dedicated volunteers located in both South Korea and California.
